Central Bank of Brazil Data Center BACEN

In assuming the construction of the new Data Center of the Central Bank of Brazil (BACEN), Almeida França Engenharia was aware of the challenge presented. In addition to the complexity of the facilities themselves, BACEN had the expectation of finally realizing the construction of a technologically modern and safe environment, where vital information on the Brazilian financial system is stored.

The former data center of the Central Bank had long called for changes. The physical space no longer met the demand; just as the entire infrastructure, from air conditioning to lighting, security, data network, shielding of exterior/architectural openings, and inclusively the electronic shielding required radical interventions.

In November 2009, after a year in execution, the work was completed. The new space, with 1,500 m2 of raised floor, is bold, whether in the modern architecture and excellent quality finishing or in the technology of the electrical, hydraulic and sanitary systems, air conditioning, fire, security, surveillance, and armor.

The new Data Center was endowed with the most modern facilities of its kind:

  • Architectural shielding level III in the contour;
  • Comfort air conditioning in office areas and precision temperature and humidity control system in equipment areas;
  • Micro-processed fire detection and alarm system, with point detection,  and laser aspiration and analysis of particles;
  • fire-fighting installation by pre-action dry sprinklers;
  • Fire-fighting system by inert gas network FM200;
  • Building automation and supervision system;
  • Internal digital TV circuit system;
  • Biometric access control;
  • CAT6 structured cabling system, manageable;
  • Vacuum sewage installations;
  • Electrical system with TTA frames (fully tested).
