Secondary Space Operations Center COPE-S
Almeida França participated in the SAT2D Consortium, responsible for the construction of the Secondary Space Operations Center (COPE-S), located in Rio de Janeiro / RJ. The operation and data processing complex complies with Telebras' 1st Geostationary Defense and Communications Satellite (SGDC) and serves as a contingency for COPE-P, located in Brasília / DF.
The COPE-S was designed following the TIER 3 typology, the second highest in terms of availability and reliability for the infrastructure of a mission-critical installation in energy, cooling, energy efficiency and availability. The data center has approximately 25,000m² of urbanization area, and 9300 m² of constructed area, with 600 m² of wide floor. The total expected energy load for COPE-S is 2.0 MVA.
A vital part of the National Broadband Plan (PNBL) of the Brazilian Federal Government, the SGDC has the mission of providing Internet in broadband for all Brazilian territories, including the most remote places, besides the band X to serve to the Armed Forces of the country. The satellite covers an area of 10.6 million square kilometers, an area larger than the entire Brazilian territory.
